We are a leading design & build façade specialist contractor in the UK, delivering high-quality, innovative façade solutions across commercial and residential projects. Our Precontract Team is at the forefront of securing new projects, developing competitive, value-driven bids that set the foundation for successful delivery.
We are looking for a Bid Manager / Assistant Bid Manager to join our Precontract Team, leading the bid process from cost estimation to submission. This role requires a strong mix of technical expertise, commercial awareness, and project planning skills, working across multiple departments to ensure our bids are competitive, technically sound, and commercially viable.
· Lead the preparation, submission, and management of bids, ensuring alignment with client expectations, project requirements, and deadlines.
· Develop bid strategies to produce competitive and profitable proposals while meeting client requirements and industry standards.
· Coordinate the bid process, managing internal teams and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure all tender requirements are met.
· Obtain and analyse quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for accurate and competitive pricing.
· Assess technical drawings, specifications, and client requirements to produce accurate cost estimates for façade works.
· Evaluate risks related to façade systems, including structural integrity, weather performance, and fire safety compliance.
· Ensure estimates comply with industry regulations, including CWCT standards, fire safety codes, and building regulations.
· Provide detailed cost breakdowns and assist in the transition from bid to project execution post-tender.
· Maintain and update bid templates, supplier databases, and subcontractor performance records to enhance future bid preparation.
· 2-5 years relevant experience
· A BEng/MEng or BSc/MSc in Façade Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
· Strong numerical and analytical skills with an ability to develop detailed and accurate cost estimates.
· Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to create compelling bid submissions.
· A collaborative curious mindset, working effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
· Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
· Familiarity and technical knowledge of systemised facade solutions, especially in windows, curtain walling, and doors, is beneficial.
· Ideally equipped with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a heavy focus on Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project.
